We thought we would take a look at the co-working, shared / virtual office spaces in Newry that are available to support freelancers, start-ups and small business. To that end we are starting with a look at The Hub who have been supporting the local community for the past 6 years from locations at Abbey Yard and John Mitchel Place in the heart of the city.
We met up with Suzanne who showed us around and explained the benefits of the space for remote working and meetings. The Hub is vibrant and colourful compared to most workplaces, with plenty of space for hot-desking or permanent workstations. Most of the furniture has been up-cycled so it is no surprise The Hub has been awarded for their environmental credentials.
Like the businesses based there, The Hub has been successful enough that Suzanne is opening a third bigger space further down Hill Street and she shared the plans with us. The new space includes a coffee shop and provides even more desk/office/meeting spaces and also includes some larger spaces for big events and even a cinema room!
I could certainly see myself working there and am looking forward to some tech meetups and Coder Dojos in their new space opening in September 2018.
